Edison C-450 The model C-450 XVIII Century English (Adam) Edison Disc Phonograph has the distinction of being the most expensive console style phonograph in the Edison line. It was available from 1918 until the end of the era in 1927. The price fluctuated over its life, beginning at $450 and shortly thereafter increasing to $500, and then dropping to $375 in an effort to stimulate sales. The painted decorations on the front of the machine differentiated it from the lower cost machines, and added a colorful touch to the otherwise rather plain cabinet. The one piece lid covered the phonograph on the right, and the record storage area on the left. |
