Edison A-100

The model A-100 Edison Diamond Disc Phonograph was a low-cost upright style machine offered starting in 1915. The price, as the name would suggest, was $100. The low cost was achieved by having a simple, open cabinet and a single spring motor. The instrument was a good performer, but Edison had always been known for quality instruments, and had positioned the new disc line as a premium offering. The public responded by preferring the larger models, and the best selling Diamond Disc Phonograph was actually the $250 model.
