Columbia Grafonola Baby Regent The Baby Regent Grafonola was one of the series of Grafonolas which were styled to resemble tables, desks, or other pieces of furniture. They were popular when new because they could do double-duty. This machine served as a nice end table when not being used to play records. The earliest examples (1911) did not have the shelf, but this feature was added in later models. The shelf made for a convenient area for a record album or two, and the left the top free for lamp or other traditional furnishing. The Baby Regent model Grafonola sold new for $100. The example illustrated here probably dates from 1913-1914. |
